What is Instagram comment-to-DM automation?

It is an automation that sends a private Instagram DM to someone right after they comment on your post or reel. Businesses use it to share prices, links, guides or booking options privately and to start a sales conversation from a public comment.

Is it allowed to auto-DM people who comment on Instagram?

Yes, through Meta’s official Instagram messaging API, which MonoChat uses. Meta allows one private reply per comment, sent within 7 days of the comment. Where the law requires it, you should also make clear that the message is automated.

How many messages can I send to someone who commented?

One private reply per comment. The conversation continues only if the person replies to your DM. From then on you can answer within 24 hours of their last message, and a human agent can reply manually for up to 7 days with the human agent tag, but not for automated or promotional messages.

Can I send the DM only when a comment contains a keyword?

Yes. In MonoChat you can start a flow when a comment contains a keyword such as PRICE or BOOK, and use different flows for different keywords. Comments that do not match stay in the inbox for your team.

What happens after the person replies to the DM?
