Best WhatsApp automation tools in 2026: 10 platforms compared

Most WhatsApp tools can send a broadcast and run a simple bot. They differ in how far the automation goes: event triggers, branching flows, forms, integrations, AI and how the bill grows. We compared ten platforms, including our own, on exactly that.

The best WhatsApp automation tool is the one that covers the journeys you actually run: broadcasts and drip campaigns, chatbot flows and forms, event-based messages from your store or CRM, and AI replies with a clean handover to your team. The real cost depends on how a tool bills (users, contacts, conversations or AI credits) plus Meta’s per-message fees.

We compared ten platforms that automate WhatsApp in October 2026. MonoChat is our own product, so it comes first and we say so. For every other tool we used only the vendor’s own pricing and help pages, listed in the sources, and checked prices on October 16, 2026. If you mainly want to compare AI agents, read our best WhatsApp AI agents comparison; this guide is about automation breadth.

How we compared WhatsApp automation tools

Every tool here sends templates and runs some kind of bot. We looked at what starts a flow (keywords only, or events from your store and CRM), how deep the logic goes (branching, delays, API calls), how campaigns are tracked and continued, which plan unlocks integrations and webhooks, and how the bill grows with volume.

1. MonoChat

Best for: businesses that run WhatsApp next to Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, web chat, SMS and voice, and want automation that reacts to events in their own systems.

MonoChat is an AI-first customer messaging platform and an official Meta Business Partner. Its workflow automation is a drag-and-drop builder with conditional branching, delays, multi-step journeys and reusable templates. Flows start from messages, button clicks, form submits and status changes, or from external events such as purchases and tickets that you stream in from a CRM, ERP or CDP, and they keep state for each customer.

  • Campaigns: WhatsApp bulk messaging to opted-in segments built from tags, CRM attributes, lifecycle stage or purchase history, with scheduling, opt-out logic and tracking from delivery to reply, booking or payment.
  • Forms in chat: WhatsApp Flows for lead forms, surveys, applications and bookings, static or loaded with live data, with answers sent to your CRM or API.
  • Integrations: REST API, webhooks, MCP and CRM, e-commerce and payment connectors through system integration; payment links with your own provider keys; custom functions inside flows.
  • AI and voice: AI assistants that answer from your knowledge base and call tools on the model you choose, with your own AI key and no markup; WhatsApp calls and AI voice agents next to your chats.
  • Pricing: a free Basic plan with 1 agent and 1 channel; paid plans add agents, channels and outgoing messages. MonoChat does not mark up channel provider fees. See pricing.
  • Keep in mind: event streams and custom functions take some setup; development packs can cover it.

2. respond.io

Best for: mid-market B2C companies with many contacts across several messaging channels.

respond.io bills by monthly active contacts, people who messaged you or received a message that month. Broadcasts, workflow automation, AI agents, Zapier and Make integrations and the developer API start on Growth; HTTP requests inside workflows and incoming and outgoing webhooks are on Advanced.

  • Pricing: Starter $99/month ($79 billed yearly), Growth $199/month ($159 yearly) and Advanced $349/month ($279 yearly); Growth and Advanced start with 1,000 monthly active contacts. respond.io states it adds no markup on WhatsApp usage.

3. Wati

Best for: small and mid-sized businesses whose customers are mostly on WhatsApp.

Wati offers a no-code chatbot builder, campaigns, a team inbox, Instagram automation and WhatsApp Business Calling. Growth connects 1 channel with 3 users, 1,000 automation triggers a month, 2 commerce or CRM integrations and no webhooks; Pro adds users, 2,000 triggers, HubSpot and limited webhooks; Business adds multiple numbers and advanced AI agents.

  • Pricing: plan prices are shown by region on Wati’s pricing page; extra users cost $24 a month on Pro. Message charges follow Wati’s rate card. Its AI agent, Astra, has separate pricing from $99/month with 5,000 credits. Shopify integration is a $4.99/month add-on.
  • Keep in mind: automation triggers are capped per plan.

4. Interakt

Best for: small online stores, especially on Shopify, that want campaigns and commerce on WhatsApp.

Interakt’s Growth plan adds linear chatbot flows, advanced campaigns, catalogs, native payments and public APIs to bulk campaigns and a shared inbox. Branching flows with API calls, auto-assignment and advanced webhooks are on Advanced.

  • Pricing: Growth $55/month and Advanced $69/month plus taxes on monthly billing, with unlimited agents; quarterly and yearly billing are discounted. WhatsApp AI agents are a paid add-on.

5. AiSensy

Best for: marketing teams whose main job on WhatsApp is campaigns.

AiSensy’s Basic plan covers broadcasting and retargeting, segments, a shared inbox and Shopify and WooCommerce integrations; Pro adds a campaign scheduler, click tracking and failed-message retries.

  • Pricing: Free Forever plan; Basic $45/month, Pro $99/month, Premium $299/month on monthly billing, with unlimited users. The drag-and-drop chatbot builder ($80/month for 5 chatbots) and the AI chat agent ($50/month with 1,000 AI messages) are separate add-ons. WhatsApp message credits are prepaid separately.

6. Gallabox

Best for: sales-led teams that want bots, drip sequences and payments on WhatsApp.

Gallabox includes chatbot flows, forms, catalog and payments from Basic, and drip sequences from Essential. Its integration catalog covers Shopify, Razorpay, Stripe, Calendly and generic webhooks on Basic, with HubSpot and others on Essential and Salesforce and Pipedrive on Advanced.

  • Pricing: Basic $150/month billed quarterly or $112/month billed annually, with 3 users (hard cap) and 500 AI credits a month; Essential $331 and Advanced $632 a month billed quarterly. AI credit top-ups are $10 per 5,000.
  • Keep in mind: no monthly billing, and Basic has no webhooks.

7. Twilio

Best for: engineering teams that want to build their own WhatsApp automation.

Twilio gives you APIs for WhatsApp, SMS, RCS, voice and email, plus Studio, a low-code visual builder for messaging and voice flows. You build the inbox and reporting yourself.

  • Pricing: a Twilio fee of $0.005 per WhatsApp message on top of Meta’s fees (Twilio’s page lists pricing as of September 2026), and a $0.001 fee for failed messages. Studio includes 1,000 free flow executions a month, then $0.0025 per execution.

8. Manychat

Best for: creators and social-first brands that start conversations from Instagram comments and DMs and continue on WhatsApp.

Manychat automates replies to comments and messages and runs broadcasts and AI-powered conversations across its channels.

  • Pricing: Free for up to 25 active contacts; Essential from $14/month billed annually with 250 active contacts; Pro from $29/month billed annually with 2,500 active contacts, broadcasts and AI. Extra active contacts are charged per contact, and prices depend on your billing country.
  • Keep in mind: lower plans limit how many channels you can connect.

9. Kommo

Best for: sales teams that want a CRM pipeline where chats move deals forward.

Kommo’s Salesbot handles incoming chats and can be triggered at pipeline stages to send messages, validate answers, tag leads or change their stage. Chat broadcasting and pipeline automation come with Advanced, which also includes up to 3 AI agents.

  • Pricing: Base $25, Advanced $35 and Pro $45 per user per month; monthly payment is not available, so the minimum term is 6 months.

10. Trengo

Best for: European customer service teams that want automation inside a helpdesk-style inbox.

Trengo’s flowbots route customers and collect details with multiple-choice questions on WhatsApp, SMS, Messenger, Telegram and web chat. WhatsApp broadcasting is an add-on on all plans, and API actions are on Pro and Enterprise.

  • Pricing: Boost €299/month billed annually (€349 monthly) with 10 users and 500 conversations a month; AI conversations carry a surcharge of €0.25–€0.30 each.

What WhatsApp automation costs on top of the platform

Meta bills every outgoing message by category and recipient country, whichever tool you use. Since October 1, 2026, service messages, the free-form replies you send inside the 24-hour customer service window, are charged too: per message, at the market’s utility and authentication rate, with no volume tiers. Replies sent in the 72-hour free entry point window after a click-to-WhatsApp ad stay free.

Estimate a month of messages before you compare subscriptions. Our WhatsApp API pricing guide explains the categories, the bulk messaging calculator prices campaigns by country, and what a WhatsApp AI agent really costs covers AI-heavy setups.

Checklist: how to choose a WhatsApp automation tool

  • Official API only? Confirm the tool runs on the WhatsApp Business Platform, not an automated app account.
  • Which plan unlocks what you need? Workflows, webhooks, HTTP requests, branching logic and integrations are often one or two tiers above the entry plan.
  • What starts a flow? Ask whether an order, payment, booking or CRM change in your own system can trigger a WhatsApp journey.
  • How are campaigns continued? Each reply to a broadcast should go to a bot, an AI or the right teammate, not sit unread.
  • What is metered? Users, active contacts, conversations, automation triggers, flow runs or AI credits. Model next year’s volume, not this month’s.
  • Markup and channels? Compare the per-message rate you will pay with Meta’s rate card, and check that the same flows cover Instagram, Messenger or web chat if you need them.
  • Opt-in and opt-out built in? You need both before any campaign; see how to send bulk messages without getting banned.

How to automate WhatsApp in MonoChat

A typical setup takes three building blocks, all in one workspace:

  1. Connect your number to the WhatsApp Business API through MonoChat, or keep using the Business app on the same number with coexistence.
  2. Build the journey in the workflow builder. For example, a delivery event from your store sends:
Hi Sara, your order #7315 was delivered today. How was everything?
[All good] [There is a problem]

A “There is a problem” tap opens a return flow and routes the chat to the returns team with the order attached. 3. Add campaigns and AI. Send segmented template campaigns, continue every reply with an AI assistant that can look up orders or create payment links, and hand over to your team in the shared inbox.

The WhatsApp Template API app lets your CRM, ERP or store send an approved template with one API call, and Lead Ads Follow-up messages people who fill your Facebook and Instagram lead forms. For longer sequences, see WhatsApp drip campaigns; for terms, the glossary.

You can start on the free Basic plan at app.monochat.ai and compare paid plans on the pricing page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a WhatsApp automation tool?

It is software connected to the official WhatsApp Business Platform (API) that sends and answers messages for you: chatbot flows, automatic replies, scheduled template campaigns, reminders triggered by events in your other systems, and AI replies. Most also include a shared inbox so your team can take over a conversation when automation is not enough.

Is WhatsApp automation allowed?

Yes, when it runs on the official WhatsApp Business Platform. You need the customer's opt-in before you message them first, business-initiated messages must use templates that Meta has approved, and free-form replies are only possible inside the 24-hour customer service window. Unofficial tools that automate a personal or Business app account break WhatsApp's terms and put the number at risk.

How much do WhatsApp automation tools cost?

You pay the platform's subscription and Meta's WhatsApp message fees. Platforms bill by plan tier, by user, by monthly active contacts or by conversations, and many charge AI separately as credits or surcharges. Since October 1, 2026, Meta also charges service replies per message at the market's utility rate, so automated replies are no longer free to send.

What is the difference between WhatsApp automation and a WhatsApp AI agent?

Automation follows rules you design: a trigger, conditions and actions such as sending a template, tagging a contact or updating a CRM. An AI agent understands free text and decides what to answer or which tool to call. Strong setups combine both: flows for predictable journeys, AI for open questions, and a person for everything else.

Which WhatsApp automation tool is best for a small business?

If you mostly send campaigns and run a few simple bots on one number, a low-cost WhatsApp-first tool is often enough. If you also answer on Instagram, Messenger or web chat, need event-based journeys from your store or CRM, or want AI on top, choose a platform that covers those channels in one inbox. MonoChat has a free Basic plan to test that setup.
